BJWSA Change
From Stephanie –
I am so sorry that this has gotten so complicated. BJWSA has decided to implement some changes effective now for us. They will not allow anyone under the age of 8 to go on the tour. They have cancelled the Cherry Pt. tour for Thurs. altogether. They are willing to reschedule that tour for 5th graders and up. If you have a child under 8 they can sit in the lobby and she will read some of their literature to them. I will be there, sitting with my three year old, while the other two take the tour. She said some of the parents could walk the plant while some sit with kids in the lobby.

Homeschool Equal Access Bill Meeting Thursday 9:00 AM – If You Feel Led Please Pray!
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Thanks in part to your phone calls, the House Education Committee has scheduled a hearing on Senate Bill 149. As you are aware, the bill would give homeschooled students the opportunity to participate in sports, marching bands, orchestras, and other extracurricular activities at their local public school.
The bill will be heard by the K-12 subcommittee of the House Education and Public Works Committee on Thursday, May 17, 2012 @ 9:00 AM. The meeting will be in Room 433 of the Blatt Building on the State House grounds.
The hearing is open to the public, so everyone is welcome to attend. If you support this legislation and live in the district of one of the following members of the subcommittee, PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT by calling your legislator and attending the hearing.
Here is contact information for the subcommittee’s members:
If you do not know who your representative is, you can enter your address on the following website: http://scstatehouse.gov/legislatorssearch.php
If you plan to attend the hearing, a group of supporters will gather at a cafe, Immaculate Consumption, which is located on the corner of Pendleton Street and S. Main St. in downtown Columbia. We will gather at 8:00 AM, discuss the legislation, and prepare for the hearing.
Several people have been working really hard to advance the rights of home school families. We are excited that the hearing has been scheduled and hope to see it passed by the House.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at the address listed below.
Grace and Peace,
John Tyler

BJWSA Correction Field Trip
From Stephanie Stewart -
I need a head count. I misunderstood. We need to be registered with passes to be on the property and they will prepare gift bags for everyone ahead of time. It will save time when we get there to be preregistered. Please call me with your names and child’s ages. They can only take15- 20 people per group with a 2 group max for this tour. We can always set up another day if we have too many.
